Berlin Graduate School of Ancient Studies (BGSAS)

The Berlin Graduate School of Ancient Studies (BGSAS) exchange will normally allow up to two Ph.D.-seeking graduate students from each institution to study at the partner institution for one semester, or one graduate student from each institution to study at the partner campus for one academic year, under the general supervision of a member or members of faculty of the hosting department. The exchange is currently limited to students in the several departments affiliated with the Program in the Ancient World at Princeton.

At Princeton, BGSAS students will be enrolled as Visiting Exchange Students and will have access to all the same facilities as a full-time enrolled graduate student. Likewise, at BGSAS, Princeton students will enjoy access to all the same facilities as regularly enrolled graduate students.

There will be no tuition or fee exchange under this agreement. Princeton students remain on their regular University support and BGSAS students do not receive funding from Princeton. Students may apply for campus housing but it cannot be guaranteed. Students are expected to purchase health and travel insurance or otherwise prove adequate coverage as required by the host country.

Students must be nominated by their home institution by March 1st of each year. Nominees must complete the nondegree application, include a clear plan of proposed study and identify a primary advisor at the host institution with whom they will work while visiting.

Admission is contingent upon final approval by the host institution.
