Hooding and Recognition Ceremony

The Graduate School will hold the 2022 Hooding and Recognition Ceremony on Cannon Green on Monday, May 23, 2022 at 4:30 pm for Ph.D. and final master's candidates.

Commencement Ceremony

Princeton University will hold the 275th Commencement ceremony on Tuesday, May 24, 2022 at 9:30 am. Details on Commencement may be found on the Commencement website.

Registration

Registration for the Hooding and Recognition Ceremony and Commencement is now closed. There is no guest limit, nor tickets required for the Hooding and Recognition Ceremony on May 23, 2022. All registered graduates will receive eight tickets for eight guests for the Commencement Ceremony on May 24, 2022. Registered degree recipients themselves do not require tickets.

Academic Regalia

In order to participate in the Hooding and Recognition Ceremony and Commencement activities, you must be in full regalia. Harden & Associates, the vendor who supplies the regalia for Princeton University, can be reached over the phone at 800-228-7935. The order form for regalia can be found here.

Faculty-quality regalia. Faculty-quality regalia is custom-made regalia manufactured specifically for you. This regalia is manufactured for long-term usage, and with the proper care, could last your entire academic or teaching career. It adheres strictly to the requirements set down by the Intercollegiate Code. The cost of faculty-quality regalia is approximately $1018 plus shipping and sales tax where applicable. If you are receiving the Ph.D. degree, you may order either the orange and black gown, which has been officially adopted by Princeton University, or the black gown with black velvet panels. The official Ph.D. hood lining for Princeton is orange with a black chevron. The deadline for orders for faculty-quality regalia is April 1, 2022.

Standard regalia. Standard regalia is manufactured for a one-time use and can be kept as a memento. If you intend to purchase standard regalia, you may do so through Harden & AssociatesThe deadline for orders for standard regalia for the 2022 Hooding and Recognition Ceremony and Commencement is Friday, April 29, 2022. In order to receive a standard hood, the complete set of regalia must be ordered.
