The research university is a complex organization made up of many administrative offices to support the core mission of teaching and research of the university. Being familiar with the culture (and subcultures), governance and committee structure, and management philosophy of the university empowers administrators to be more effective in aligning their projects and goals with the university’s strategic initiatives.
