Bio/Description

James M. Van Wyck is the liaison for the Humanities & Social Sciences. He manages graduate student professional development programs, strategic communications, the GradFUTURES Fellows program, including the University Administrative Fellows Program, and the Community College Teaching Initiative.

Prior to Princeton, he worked for Robert Weisbuch and Associates (RWA), where he served as a senior research fellow and associate.  He was also a multi-year postdoctoral fellow at Fordham University, where he taught literature, public speaking, composition, and upper-level electives including "Literature and Leadership."  James holds a Ph.D. in English literature and languages/letters from Fordham University, an M.A. in English literature from the University at Buffalo, and a B.A. in English from William Paterson University.

Areas of Responsibility:

  • Serve as liaison to graduate students and departments in the Humanities and Social Sciences divisions
  • Oversee strategic communications and technology initiatives including oversight of the website, MyPrincetonU, social media, storytelling, online programs, video content, and the GradFUTURES Podcast
  • Assist associate dean with strategic partnerships, planning and operations
  • Develop programs and campus-wide collaborations including signature GradFUTURES Learning Cohorts and the annual GradFUTURES Forum
  • Manage the promotion, administration, and partnerships for the University Administrative Fellows Program, Social Impact Fellows Program, Higher Education Leadership Fellows Program, and the Community College Teaching Initiative
  • Manage the GradFUTURES LinkedIn group and the partnership with LinkedIn Learning
  • Supervise a team of graduate student Professional Development Associates in the Humanities and Social Sciences divisions
