Program in Latin American Studies
The Program in Latin American Studies (PLAS) offers a limited number of grants to graduate students for pre-dissertation and dissertation research in Latin America and the Caribbean during summer 2010. Preference will be given to graduate students who are actively involved with PLAS. Students must be able to work in the major local language of the region they propose to visit. PLAS does not offer grants for language training, except in the case of a student who, in order to carry out his or her dissertation research, must study an indigenous language of Latin America not taught at Princeton. Nor does PLAS provide support for writing the dissertation.
PLAS also offers support under the William Ebenstein Student Research Fund (endowed by Bradley N. Currey, Jr. '51), which shall be used to support student research in Latin America. First preference shall be given to students from Latin American countries; any remaining funds may be allotted to other qualified applicants.
In addition PLAS offers support under the Kingston Family Fund for Chilean Research (endowed by Timothy Kingston '62 P87 P92, and C.K. Pflaum '92) with a preference for research in or about Chile.
In addition to the GS online application, to complete the process, applicants must complete the online cover sheet accessible from the PLAS home page. In addition, they must submit by the deadline two (2) copies of their official transcript, and request that two (2) letters of recommendation be sent to the attention of Rose Rivera, Program in Latin American Studies, 309-316 Aaron Burr Hall.
Please direct any inquiries to Rose Rivera at 258-4177.
