Program in Near Eastern Studies
The Program in Near Eastern Studies provides support for graduate students to pursue intensive summer language study in Arabic, Hebrew, Persian and Turkish. Applicants should have completed at least one year of formal instruction in the language in the Department of Near Eastern Studies.
Funding will be provided to successful applicants from one of the following sources: a) Department of Education FLAS (Foreign Language and Area Studies) Awards for Summer Language Study (please note: FLAS funds are restricted to US citizens); b) NES Program Awards for summer study.
Summer language programs must be approved by the Program in Near Eastern Studies. Applicants should check with the appropriate language instructors as to the acceptability of the summer program they are considering.
