Conferences
The Office of Diversity sponsors two conferences to orient juniors, seniors and post-baccalaureate students to graduate opportunities at Princeton. The conferences offer intensive workshops to demystify the graduate school process. The overall purpose of these conferences is to give prospective applicants a closer look at Princeton, with the hope that they will seriously consider the Graduate School as a potential future home for advanced study.
In February 2006, Princeton hosted a cross-regional conference for Mellon-Mays Undergraduate Fellowship Programs, including those in the mid-Atlantic and New York City areas, and from as far away as Chicago and Atlanta.
In the fall, Princeton will sponsor a post-baccalaureate biomedical research conference to encourage underrepresented students to pursue graduate study in STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) fields. The three-day conference will showcase leaders in STEM field research. Students will focus on building a competitive academic portfolio to gain entry in the world's most elite institutions. Also, students will learn what it takes to succeed in graduate school, the professoriate and research.
