What are the Graduate School’s office hours?
Our hours are Monday through Friday, 8:45 a.m. to 5 p.m., from September to May and 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. June to August. The University is closed for Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year’s and Memorial Day.

When and how is the best time to request an application, catalog or departmental information?
The web application is available August through December for admission the following fall. You can access the web application via Embark.com or print the paper application from our website. You may view the catalog (Graduate School Catalog) on the web. If you are interested in material about an academic department, you may view it on the web directly from the department's website.
Is there a different application for international students?
There is only one application, which can be used by U.S. citizens, permanent residents or international applicants for any academic department.

What graduate programs does Princeton offer?
Princeton offers Ph.D. programs in humanities, social sciences, natural sciences, engineering, architecture and the Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs/urban planning. In addition, Princeton offers a terminal Masters degree in the following fields: engineering, architecture, Near Eastern studies, and public and international affairs/urban planning.
May I apply to more than one department?
No, only one application may be submitted each year.
What is the cost of tuition and what is included?

Does the Graduate School admit for spring and/or summer?
No, new students are admitted once a year beginning in the fall only.
Does Princeton have a credit system?
Princeton does not allow enrollment on a per credit basis. All students must be enrolled full time, with the exception of the Master of Engineering program. All classes are held between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. There are no Saturday, summer or evening classes.
May I transfer credits from another college or university to Princeton’s Graduate program?
Princeton does not operate on a credit system. Therefore, no provision exists for transferring credit received for work at other institutions. Students who have completed work elsewhere should be able to present themselves for the general examination in a correspondingly shorter time and should discuss this with the Director of Graduate Studies in their program.
May I defer my admission?
Princeton allows very few deferrals each year which must be approved by the department and the Graduate School. If your deferral is not approved you may request that your application be reactivated for consideration the following year. This does not guarantee that you will be readmitted.
May I request that my application materials be returned to me?
The application and all materials submitted to the Graduate Admission Office becomes the property of Princeton University and will not be returned under any circumstances. Architecture portfolios and music samples however, will be returned to unsuccessful candidates who request their return prior to May 15. After May 15 all portfolios and music samples will be destroyed.

If you are interested in visiting the Firestone Library you will need a visitor's pass from the Graduate Admission Office, 1 Clio Hall.
