Academic Support Programs

There are two kinds of academic support programs: those run by the Office of Academic Affairs; and those run by other offices and centers.

The Office of Academic Affairs administers the Summer Language Program, which offers preparation in a few commonly-taught foreign languages to assist graduate students in meeting their department’s foreign language requirements; the Dean’s Fund for Scholarly Travel and the Association of Princeton Graduate Alumni/ae (APGA) Summer Travel Grants for delivering scholarly papers at academic conferences and meetings; and certain study-abroad fellowship opportunities, including Fulbright-IIE, Fulbright-Hays DDRA, DAAD, Georges Lurcy and others. Students with disabilities, particularly those that affect students’ academic work or may have an impact on their normal progress to degree, should consult with the associate dean for academic affairs.

The McGraw Center for Teaching and Learning conducts mandatory training for new Assistants in Instruction prior to their first teaching assignment. The English Language Program for international graduate students is also housed in McGraw. The Writing Program offers assistance to graduate students as well as undergraduates on either an appointment or walk-in basis.
